As a young person the cost of modern medical care can be a burden. Dr Conyers and the Treat Unique team are very aware of this cost and the need for you to be able to plan ahead. The costs of a consultation will be explained to you prior to your first appointment. For patients requiring chemotherapy, Dr Conyers, will try, as much as possible, to bill your health fund directly, so there is minimal out of pocket expenditure. Fees are typically lower than those recommended by the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
During therapy you may be required to be admitted to hospital for illness. Whilst most of your hospital fee will be covered by Medicare and your private Health Fund, there may be some ‘out of pocket’ expenses depending on the procedures undertaken and your Health Fund. It is important to check with your health fund what is covered for hospital stays prior to commencing therapy so that you are aware of any limitations that may be present.
There are times during treatment when other health practitioners may be required to consult. Dr Conyers and her team will provide you with upfront information about any likely incurred additional costs. These may include fees associated with anaesthesia, surgery or radiology (i.e X-rays, CT scans, MRI etc).
Medicare rebates directly into your bank account can be organized at the time of your appointment through reception staff. The usual approach to paying bills is available including EFTPOS (direct debit and credit cards). Please note that unpaid bills will be actively pursued. It is important to notify the Treat Unique team if you are suffering from financial hardship so we can organize alternative methods or circumstances for payment and not compromise your therapy.
